About The Crew

Keith Alan – Founder/Executive Producer/Host

A lifelong passion for fishing and a career commentating and reporting at major sporting events like the Bassmaster Classic, X Games and Olympics has given, Ultimate Fishing Experience Founder, Keith Alan the opportunity to travel to some of the best fishing destinations in the world to fish with some of the very best anglers in the country.

Keith Alan SC Redfish

Keith wanted to share those great fishing destinations and experiences so he created Ultimate Fishing Experience to give others the chance to actually get in the boat and go fishing with the Pro Anglers they see on TV. Fisherman from all over the country started taking advantage of the opportunity to learn tournament proven fishing techniques and tactics, directly from the Pros themselves.

After getting The Experience established Keith decided it was time to do something significant with it, so he offered to give away some free fishing trips to Heroes through his Ultimate Angler Blog. After seeing the response, he knew he had to do more. The goal became to recognize and reward as many Heroes as possible, and to have a positive and direct impact on their lives.

Keith adds, “With the help of my friend and business partner Jason Wald and the support of some great partners we now get to impact somebody’s life every week, and I don’t know anything that could be more rewarding than that.”

 Jason Wald – Executive Producer/Director

A transplant from California, Executive Producer & Director Jason Wald moved Jason Wald bass fishing at Leavellwood Lodgehis family to Florida in part because of the variety of year round fishing options.  A 25 year career Directing PGA, NCAA, NBA, Olympic and other sports broadcasts for NBC and other major networks, the Emmy Award winning Director had a huge impact on late night television when he took the reins for NBC’s popular Poker After Dark Series. Extremely passionate about his projects, Jason has enjoyed a successful career in sports television, but he longed for the opportunity to mix his passion for fishing with his talent for producing and directing.  After Wald and Ultimate Fishing Experience Founder, Keith Alan were introduced, a phone call turned into a fishing trip, and that fishing trip turned into a partnership.

On the boat, the two seasoned pros hit it off immediately and soon realized that their combined skill sets complimented each other perfectly.  After pulling the boat under a bridge to take a break from the heat and talk, the two discovered just how much they had in common, including a similar idea for a fishing show that honored heroes. A few months later they co-founded Under The Bridge Productions LLC, the multi-media production and marketing company that produces the television series in association with the NBC Sports Network.

The Ultimate Fishing Experience TV Series isn’t just about fishing. This is a show with a redeeming value that goes well beyond the traditional fishing show. Not only are we changing the lives of the service members and families involved in each episode, we are doing our best to create awareness and generate support for the organizations that address the needs of our Heroes.

Sgt Joe Kowalski USMC (Retired) – Co-Host

Sgt Joe Kowalski's 5 pound largemouth bass

Joseph J. Kowalski Jr. is a 13 year veteran of the USMC serving from 1980- 1993. He belongs to The Marine Corps League Silver City Detachment #45 where he has served as Commandant, Jr. and Sr. Vice Commandant, and Public Relations Officer, and he is a life member of the Force Recon Association of the Marine Corps.

The colorful character we call “Sarge” is known in the motorcycling community as he is a licensed Harley Davidson Tech and has done a weekly radio broadcast called “The Biker Report” in Connecticut’s WCCC 106.9 FM since 1993.

Kowalski is also an avid angler and has made the Connecticut B.A.S.S. Federation Nation State Team in 2005 and again in 2011.

After recognizing the therapeutic value fishing has on his own PTSD, Joe made it his personal mission to take his fellow veterans fishing to help cope with and heal the wounds of war. In honor of his lifelong friend, Joe founded the Major Steven Roy Andrews Fishing Outreach Program and takes veterans and under priveledged kids out fishing 2 – 3 times per week.

Well known in the fishing world for his TV series “Rod’s & Wheel’s” which aired on ESPN2, Keith & Joe first met at the 2006 Bassmaster Classic and started a friendship that would blossom to brotherhood after they met again at the 2011 Classic in New Orleans.

In addition to his military career, Joe’s mission to help his fellow veterans with PTSD and TBI through his fishing outreach program makes him a true American Hero in his own right. He is changing, and in some cases, literally saving lives. Because he has first hand experience with the issues we are trying to address in the show, he has amazing insight and resources for information on veteran’s needs and causes, which makes him a valuable addition to the show.

Kowalski now hosts the Beyond The Experience segment in the show featuring non-profit organizations, groups and private corporations that are helping veterans go fishing.

Our family is grateful for programs like yours. You are making a huge impact on the lives of American heroes...you are angels in disguise!
